Title: How Ohno Makes Nino Be Nice
Rating: Safe!
Characters: Everyone. Ohmiya?
It wasn't true that Ohno enjoyed eating mostly anything.
But it was true that Ohno was okay with eating mostly anything, bar things that hurt him or were just genuinely uneatable. The simple fact was that Ohno's typical vagueness also applied itself to eating, which made him an excellent act that never got old during their various TV shows.
It was far rarer for him to actually enjoy the way something tasted, for his eyes to light up and for the "Umai!" to break away from his usual daze and into excitement.
Nino treasured those moments.
For one thing, it was because Nino himself was kind of weird. He noticed those kinds of facts, in a lazy sort of way, like what his bandmates liked and didn't like eating. Some were obvious, like Leader's easy love for ramen and Aiba's total obsession with yakiniku. Nino liked to know these things because you never really knew what could be useful for a sarcastic comeback in the future.
The second reason (for Nino observing, that is) was that Ohno was, for a twenty-eight year old man, completely endearing. Everyone doted on him. It was because he really was like he appeared - gentle, funny, weird and kind of floating through life in a way that both amused and infuriated everyone. He had been nice to Nino from the beginning, and it hadn't been hard for them to fall into the roles they'd been instructed towards.
After so long, their friendship was pretty natural and close. Nino even relaxed from being in Ohno's proximity.
So, after a while, Nino started to write down the things that Leader had liked eating during their recordings. It wasn't that weird, Nino justified to himself. He made these kinds of lists for all his games, anyway.
Maybe not so detailed, but whatever.

Occasionally Ohno really was used as a veritable trash can. It was because he didn't complain, and it was likely that he'd just say "Umai!' and nobody would end up offended. But sometimes their guests really did request the weirdest stuff, or Aiba had gotten particularly inventive with three things that shouldn't have been boiled together in a pot. Ever. At those times, Leader was the fallback.
It was after one of those recordings that they were all in the dressing room, gathering their things and getting ready to head home. Nino kept an eye on Ohno, who looked a bit sad as he poked a script back into his backpack. If Ohno looked discontent, it was likely because he hadn't gone fishing lately or that he was hungry.
"Ah," Ohno said, sighing, "I'm really hungry." He said it quietly, so that Jun wouldn't hear.
Everyone was kind of keeping a distance from Jun today, who'd kept on a strained professionalism during filming but looked snappy. Nino grinned to himself as Aiba cast wary glances at a brush of his that was currently in Jun's territory. Aiba-chan really could be dense sometimes, but after working with animals for so long Nino supposed that he'd built up some sense of self-preservation. Jun turned to cast a disapproving eye on Ohno (for just speaking, Nino supposed, since Jun had the ears of a hawk), and Aiba took the chance to dive in.
"You sure ate a lot today, though!" Sho called from the other side of the room, shrugging on a jacket. He hadn't had to do anything embarassing today, which made it a good day for Sho. Sho's manager appeared at the door, gesturing in an impatient way. With Yatterman and everything else he was doing, Sho was busy. Their bandmate only had time for one wave and "Bye!" before he was yanked out the door.
Ohno answered with a Leader-ish noise of sad assent even though Sho was gone. Jun's expression softened and he turned back to packing, because no one could really feel angry when Leader's eyebrows were knitted like that. Aiba was hopping up and down in the corner, waving the brush in victory. Nino thought it was really cute, in a demented sort of way. He hopped over to where Ohno and Nino were standing.
"Hey Leader, Leader! Let's go for yakiniku, then!" Aiba was pretty much obsessed with yakiniku.
It was then that Nino made a snap decision. He never had work scheduled after six and, besides, Ohno hadn't really enjoyed anything he'd eaten today. That was kind of sad.
"Sorry, Aiba-chan. I'm reserving Leader for this evening, okay?" Nino slung an arm over Ohno's thin shoulders, even as the other man turned to blink at him in surprise. It wasn't weird that Nino wanted to do something with Ohno. But it had to seem that Nino was offering to provide someone with food, which was pretty weird on a cosmic scale.
"Well, okay," Aiba replied, already looking over his shoulder at Jun, who was more fair game now that he'd been softened up by Leader's pouting. Nino smirked at Jun's face of sudden alarm as Aiba hopped back there.
"Bye, now!" Nino called, and tugged Ohno with him out the door.

They chatted easily on the way to Nino's place. Leader still looked a bit confused, but he didn't say anything. It was far easier for Ohno to remain confused about something rather than to try and figure something out, which was another reason everyone became concerned for him after spending any amount of time with him. It was both alarming and adorable.
Nobody was home, which wasn't too strange. Nino plopped Ohno down on the couch himself, since Ohno was gazing around in his vacant, significantly hungry sort of way. Then he went to pull the list from its secret hiding place in his room. All of a sudden, he felt a bit embarassed.
"Here," he said, sitting down next to Ohno and handing him the list, feeling sort of supremely embarassed now. "Pick something you want, and I'll try and cook it for you."
The other man was gazing down in surprise. "...this is a list of everything I liked, Nino."
"Yep," Nino fiddled with the trump cards that had been on the coffee table. "Well."
Ohno laughed from where he'd leaned himself against Nino's shoulder, poking his side. "You noticed. You're so cute, Nino!"
"Don't ruin my reputation as a jerk," Nino replied, scowling. But he was grinning the whole time as Ohno picked something, watched as Nino made it, then lit up as he tasted it.
"Umai!"
AN: (Two papers later, I'm alive! Sort of, kind of? I don't have that much homework this semester, but the amount of papers is crazy. Ahh! Well, this isn't what I've been working on, but it's a cute little thing so I'm posting it.)
