I term today an Awkward Moment.

I'm a big fan of earrings, because obviously sticking metal through the holes in your ears is insanely cool. So, I really do have all kinds (not including studs, as they hurt), and it's always fun to choose from variety.

Today, I have on these blue shoulder-duster earrings - you know, the long, dangly kind.

The setting: Chem. My only saving grace is that everyone was so occupied that no one noticed. I, too, am working diligently on a worksheet like a very good, proper child. Unknown to me, my right earring has HIDEOUS AND PERVERTED PLANS. Leaning forward, the motion of my head makes it slip out - and fall right. down. my. shirt.

I don't even have a chest!

OH MY GOD. Well. Awkward.

Facing up? That is the Really Awkward Turtle, which cannot be applied to most everyday awkward situations.

I always thought that was a dead awkward turtle... something so awkward it resulted in death.

And, please, I've had more embarrassing things fall down my shirt during class. Like my TEACHER'S earring. Yeah.

I thought about the death thing too, but then I realized that if something died, it just wouldn't continue to be awkward, and then there'd be no more purpose for the dead awkward turtle.

Not really, if they're heavy, long, and dangly.

Exactly my point. What would distinguish it from a random gesture? It has lost its essence of awkward-turtle.

Long, heavy, dangly earrings are frightening. Pretty, but ouch.
